When should I start shopping for a baby crib?

Friday, July 24th, 2009

I’m gonna be 13wks on monday, BUT! I’m overly excited! I’m already into like searching online of all the adorable cribs and bedsets and decor. And i wanna buy some of it now, but i dunno, i have so far to go. 6 more months…Maybe i need to calm down…

I wanna know your opinions on when is a good time to actually purchase a baby crib and the bedsheets.

Once you find out the sex of the baby! because you don’t know what bedsets you will get because of the sex of the baby whether it be blue or pink.

I did that with my son I bought a white crib when i was roughly 15 weeks and i couldn’t find any sets that were boyish that matched with my white crib,I ended up returning the white crib for a black one.

When do start buying baby cribs and diapers? ?

Friday, July 24th, 2009

My husband and I are TTC. Were are not pregnant yet but a friend of mine suggested to start stocking up on diapers now that were TTC. I think I should wait till I am actually pregnant. Also when do you buy the crib and stroller?
Because I am 22 and because my husband is 23 and is convinced that he has super sperm, he says that it will be easy to get me pregnant.
Yes I strongly believe that it is stupid to by things before your pregnant, but I just wanted to know what you thought.

I didnt buy diapers until I was closer to my due date. I bought a crib, bedding set, stroller and car seat right after my pregnancy was confirmed at the doctors. I was so excited I couldnt wait!!

Does anyone have any experiece w/Munire baby cribs?

Tuesday, July 21st, 2009

I am considering purchasing the Munire Newport crib and accessories. Does anyone have this line, or have experiece buying Munire? I want a good quality crib that will last my child through college.

I hear Munire is very nice.

Also try looking at Pali Or Babys Dream.

Make sure it converts fro crib to toddler to full.

Get your money worth. If you buy a crib that is solid wood and not compressed or manufactured wood it will last.

Pali and Babys dream make most of their cribs in solid wood. Examples: Pine wood is solid wood and will last but it is a soft wood and will get nicks and dings very easily. Pali uses hard woods: beech wood and birch wood. Those are harder woods and wont get scratched as easily.

if you do get a convertable crib make sure you buy the adult rails at the same time. Most people want to wait because they wont use them for a while. The problem is when you go back to buy them they may not make them anymore and you have just bought a convertable crib for nothing.

I need your advice on baby cribs. Can you help?

I am a furniture designer and I am interested in creating a nursery line. Do you Moms/Dads have any suggestions on how to make my cribs more convenient for you? I love modern furniture, so definitely this
line will be modern as well. I am also planing to make it eco-friendly, and convertible (crib-daybed). What would you like to see in the future cribs? Any problems with you current cribs, suggestions? THANK
YOU!

I know a lot of parents don’t feel that the sliding rails on cribs are really safe, so what if instead of the rail sliding down the top piece (like a foot or two) kind of folded down and then locked into place. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a crib that did that so it might be a rather unique feature.

Baby Rocking Cribs and Baby Sleeping Bags?

Friday, July 17th, 2009

My sister has bought one of those wooden rocking cribs. It’s standard size from Mothercare.

She wants to know if it’s OK for her baby to sleep in that crib when he/she is in a baby sleeping bag/gro bag?

This is cos the baby will be sleeping in one until he/she is approx 6 mths. Then will be moving to cot.
Is the crib going to be too small for the sleeping bag?

My baby sleeps in a rocking crib with a sleeping bag, they are absolutly fine!!
The Rocking cribs are actually a good size with them being bigger than moses baskets!

Where can you find baby cribs that aren’t made in China?

Wednesday, July 15th, 2009

One of my friends is pregnant and is looking for a crib not made in China. I wanted to buy the crib for her but I can’t find one anywhere. Do you all have any suggestions as to where I can find one?

I’m partial to Amish made things ( I own an Amish furniture store), but you may look at an Amish furniture store..everything we have in our store is made in Indiana, Illinois, and Ohio..NOT china! and that is awesome we have sold a lot of Amish toys, because they are American made..I have an Amish crib for my youngest step son (well..I did he’s 4 now so he’s a little big for it now!!..lol), but that would be my recommendation it may be a little more expensive, but at least you’d be sure that your baby is safe! good luck!! and have a happy new year!

Are the Storkcraft baby cribs from Walmart the exact same as the Storkcraft cribs from Sears?

Monday, July 13th, 2009

Does anyone know if I order a crib at Walmart that has the same crib name as a crib at Sears, if it is the exact same product? For example, Walmart sells the ‘Storkcraft Deborah Stages Crib’ for $229.99 but Sears sells it for $379.99. Sears doesn’t provide item #’s online or in the catalogue so I can’t compare. I’m worried that if I purchase the crib at Walmart, that it’s not the same quality as the one from Sears.

Yes they are the exact same!! i know this is days later but i was in walmart the other day and there is a RECALL on storkcraft cribs so be careful

what is the list for dangerous baby cribs?

Saturday, July 11th, 2009

on NBC the other night they told of Baby Cribs that the side rails were attached wrong & could hurt the babies. I need the list.

Here is a link to the US Consumer Product Safety Commision website where all the recalls are posted. This particular link takes you to the page you requested:
http://www.cpsc.gov/cpscpub/prerel/prhtml07/07307.html

FYI: The cribs were recalled not because they were improperly assembled, but because some parents were improperly assembling them. This improper assembly by the parents (the cribs were not assembled at the time of purchase) caused 2 or 3 infant deaths.

The recalled Simplicity crib models include: Aspen 3 in 1, Aspen 4 in 1, Nursery-in-a-Box, Crib N Changer Combo, Chelsea and Pooh 4 in 1. The recall also involves the following Simplicity cribs that used the Graco logo: Aspen 3 in 1, Ultra 3 in 1, Ultra 4 in1, Ultra 5 in 1, Whitney and the Trio.

The recalled cribs have one of the following model numbers, which can be found on the envelope attached to the mattress support and on the label attached to the headboard: 4600, 4605, 4705, 5000, 8000, 8324, 8800, 8740, 8910, 8994, 8050, 8750, 8760, and 8996.

The cribs, which were made in China, were sold in department stores, children’s stores and mass merchandisers nationwide from January 1998 through May 2007 for between $100 and $300.

As an immediate precaution, you should check to see if the drop-side is installed right side up. To do this, check to see that the slightly rounded rail with the decorative groove is installed at the top and the plain rail is on the bottom. Next, make sure the drop-side is securely attached to the tracks in all four corners.

Are baby cribs usually on sale all year long?

Thursday, July 9th, 2009

A sincere thanks to the people who were nice and helpful

I sometimes go to the lake on weekends! I really enjoy spending time with fellow seagulls and pelicans and eye-goggles!! keke!! but to answer your question- I have been to the Eiffel Tower and it didn’t even matter how tall it was, I continued my bike until I reached the top of Mount Scott in Oklahoma at my grandma’s home.

Do you think baby cribs could create more crime?

Tuesday, July 7th, 2009

Since it looks like bars, and if the baby sees that, maybe later in life, he or she will think that jail is no big deal.

I don’t know when cribs were invented, but has crime increased since the invention of cribs.

Actually your question is valid. Too many other factors contribute to rate of crime, like overall neglect or abuse.

In the 70’s child psycology was studying the effects of infants being left in their playpens too long instead of being out and about. In those days there were still the old type with slats and the modern with the strong net sides. It was considered stifling, frustrating etc.

So the market opened up to more educational activity toys and other childhood equipment. The Child product industry/market really started to boom then.

When the child is very young, he doesn’t really see the overall view of the sides. He/she probably is learning to focus on the movement, shapes & colors on the mobile thats over head or hanging farther down at the other end and any other automated activity center attached higher up on the bed.

Later when the child becomes more aware, their time in the bed should be limited to sleepy time. So that they don’t see it as punishment.

Basically that’s how a lot of parents have to deal with it.

Until they can adapt it to the toddler bed set up.
