Can you share your experience with me, please? What is the best for the baby - day care or babysitting?

Monday, July 13th, 2009

My baby is almost 1 year. I think of a day care for her. But…I do not know what is best. Do they really take good care of babies or I should go with a babysitting, which I am not sure about neither - i’ve recently seen on TV a couple of home videos of a really bad treatment of babysitters. So, can you share your experience with me please.Thank you.

I think that day care is a much better alternative when it comes to your child learning. With a babysitter you really don’t know if they are taking good care of your child, cause they’re at a house with no supervision. I always had my daughter in a daycare cause they interact with other children. Also they wont be so afraid when its time to go to school.

My husband and I don’t want to take childbirth or baby care classes. Did you take the classes?

Saturday, July 11th, 2009

I have helped raise my two little brothers and I have taken care of kids for many years.

My husband has never really been around kids and held a newborn baby for the first time a couple of months ago.

I found 3 childbirth DVDs that have childcare, breastfeeding, Lamaze, etc on it. Its about 6 hours on each DVD.

We were thinking about watching the interactive DVDs and reading the many baby books we bought.

If he felt uncomfortable still, then we would go to the classes.

Did you take the classes? Any advice?

I didn’t take it any childbirth classes, but I did take an infant care and CPR class. I felt it was very valuable even though I have babysay numerous infants and such.

The doctors and nurses told me exactly what to do during childbirth and I did what came naturally. 7 pushes and my son was out. I am sure you’ll do fine.

I was sooooo worried childbirth would be terrible, but it wasn’t nearly as bad as I imagined, in fact, it was much easier. I hope you have the same expirience!
Best wishes!

Is anyone looking for botanically based baby care products?

Thursday, July 9th, 2009

I was wondering if anyone was interested in sampling some baby care products. Many baby care products contain mineral oil, the molecular structure of which is too large to penetrate the pores of our skin, sitting on the top layer like saran wrap. These products get wiped off over time and give little to no benefit but rather a temporary feeling of softness. Babys in particular need pure water based products that will penetrate their skin and deeply condition and hydrate with the proper ingredients. Arbonne has a great baby care line that is botanically-based and pH correct, pediatrician and dermatologist tested, non-sensitizing, non-irritating, and formulated without nut oils. They are formulated with natural ingredients like oat flour which is an emollient and an emulsifier. It’s highly absorbent and hypoallergenic. Oat flour helps to soothe and soften dry, itchy and sensitive skin. I’m curious to hear your thoughts. If anyone is interested, I would be happy to send you a free sample.

In your opinion what baby care items are a must have for a new born?

Tuesday, July 7th, 2009

i have a daughter but had gotten rid of all of her baby stuff so now i have to start over from scratch. the baby will be here in 3 months and i am getting everything i need next week out of income tax. i already have a crib, highchair, walker, and playpen but that is it. i even have to get clothes etc. what items do you recommend that you cannot go without?

Absolute musts on my list:

*Swing
*Pacifier(s)
*Baby Bjorn Carrier
*Diapers, Diapers, and more Diapers…shoot if it were possible to know the exact size of the child and you could break it up into quarters I’d be stocked up for a lifetime
*Also the thing that goes under the baby’s sheet on top of the mattress, its like a soft cushion that is waterproof (sorry don’t know the name)

What is the best book on baby care to buy?

Sunday, July 5th, 2009

I’m looking for a book that explains everything- from how to bathe a baby to colic to developmental stages besides the book "what to expect during the first year." Can anyone give me any suggestions?
Thank You!!!

Well that’s hard to say. See if you are pro-crazy and pro-doctor for everything then you will like what to expect (maybe). There are also a lot of other rush to the doctor immediately books.

Then there are books like:
* "What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About Your Child’s Vaccinations" Stephanie Cave
*How to Raise a Healthy Child in Spite of Your Doctor
by Robert S. Md Mendelsohn (Author)

Then there are more middle of the road books, not anti-doctor, not anti natural cures, but more balanced like:
*Any of the Dr Sears Books

*Smart Medicine for a Healthier Child
by Janet Zand (Author), et al.

Hmm I’d list more but I can’t find my wish list online hahaha

Sarting a baby skin care line. What legal actions do I need to take?

Friday, July 3rd, 2009

What kind of legal steps and licensing do I need To Make and Sell Home Made Soaps?I am starting my own natural baby skin care line and am wondering if someone can help me out with what I need to do as far as licenses, Patents, Trademark?, etc to make sure I am doing everything legal and no one copies my brand. I will be making them at home myself. Does the FDA have any thing to do with this or the health department?

You probably need $1,000,000 or more of product liability insurance — esp to sell to any chain stores. I’m guessing this could cost you $1500 a year — but that is a real guess. And you need to be a business — a sole prop or a subchapter S corp are your most likely choices — depends on your finances.

Things like soap are really hard to copyright or trademark unless you have something really revolutionary. And you must be ready to spend a LOT to defend these protections — otherwise you are probably best not bothering. Good luck.

How do i look after a real care baby without experiencing any problems?

Wednesday, July 1st, 2009

I am getting a real care baby today for a school project and i really want to do well. It will cry when it wants it’s nappy changed, winding or feeding. But how do i know which one of the above it needs/wants?

It’s great that you want to do well! So, here’s the take-home lesson: you don’t know what the baby wants when it cries.

This is as true of real care babies as it is for actual babies. The point is to show you that being a good parent is trying to do everything you can to take care of your baby, even if doing everything is frustrating. It’s to illustrate that while babies are cute and lovable, they are a lot of work to care for and can easily run you into the ground.

To do well all you really need to do is be attentive. Try to do what you can and keep on doing it when the baby continues to cry. Many new mothers are shocked that they cannot tell why their baby is crying and do the cycle in real life - check for a wet diaper, feed, burp, cuddle, etc. Some babies just continue to cry for no known reason and this is known as colic.

Most of the abuse and neglect cases against infants involve a parent under the age of 25 - children can easily frustrate you and without extensive life experience, it’s easy to lash out all of a sudden and do something regrettable. That’s why these babies were invented - to prevent not only the child abuse, but also encourage contraceptive use so that fewer unwanted pregnancies occur in the first place.

Just wanting to do a good job is a big step in the right direction and a big part of what it takes to be a competent caregiver. Don’t worry, you’ll do fine. And even if you don’t do perfectly, remember that no parent is perfect and that it also might mean you’re not ready to be a mom just yet.

Good luck!

What are some natural products for baby care? like lotions, shampoo, body wash, oil?

Tuesday, June 30th, 2009

My friend is interested in natural ways and all I know so far is olive oil is good for babies. I was wondering if anyone knows what are some natural ways for baby care?

I use almond oil to massage my baby and for hair I use coconut oil. Also, you can use almond oil for yourself as well. Almond oil has a natural bleech agent. It gives your skin narishment and shine natural way. You don’t need to use any kind of lotion after that.
