I think you need to wait...

MISCARRIAGE & FOSTER LOSS MENTIONED

My first pregnancy we went out & bought a bunch of smaller priced items right away...& then found out we had miscarried...& everything we bought & (subscribed to via email) was a constant reminder

We then moved into the world of foster to adopt. Almost certain of a foster placement (agency was tying up lose ends) bought a crib (sale floor clearance) took it home, set it up with new bedding, & clothes...The child didn't come home to us...
It would be another 4 months, with a crib set up in an empty room until our DD join our family..

So where as i want you to be excited & I desire for everyone to have a naively happy pregnancy...i do think now is a little early for big ticket purchases....
Like others said, you will get most of the larger items at your shower..
Take Care & A Happy & healthy 8 months!!!
References :
it's best 2 do your baby shopping after u have entered the 2nd trimester and know what it is b/c the 1st trimester is where the risk of miscarrige is high(not saying u will have one or anything).i got mines at the end of my pregnancy for free b/c i took a safe sleeping class and got it the day i went into labor.
References :
If you want a specific set of sheets, like for a boy or a girl, its best to wait until you find out what sex your baby will be. If you don't mind having a unisex set of sheet, by all means, you can buy them whenever you want. I bought my daughters crib a month after I found out I was pregnant...I was too excited to wait!!
References :
I didnt buy anything that early, But i did make a registry very early on.... Wait till after a baby shower to buy anything... Why dont you make a registry with everything you want on it, maybe that will satisfy you for now. I know its a very happy and exciting time- my baby #1 just turned 10 weeks old. Congrats, Good Luck, Have fun! :)
References :
Well if you think you might get a crib for your baby shower then wait if you don't think you will then go ahead and buy it now, Just don't open up the little things you buy for the baby because if you do get something for your shower that is the same then you might want to return one of them.
References :
I started buying everything before 13 weeks. I couldn't help it! The best part about starting to buy stuff now is that it's much easier financially! I bought a little bit here and there, and by like 20some weeks I had absolutely everything. I just set up the crib and I love looking at it! There is no RIGHT time to start buying. Alot of women wait because 1: they want to know the sex first, and 2: some are still afraid of miscarriage. I say, do what you want! It's OKAY to be excited! Good luck!
References :
Once you find out the sex of the baby! because you don't know what bedsets you will get because of the sex of the baby whether it be blue or pink.

I did that with my son I bought a white crib when i was roughly 15 weeks and i couldn't find any sets that were boyish that matched with my white crib,I ended up returning the white crib for a black one.
