When do start buying baby cribs and diapers? ?
My husband and I are TTC. Were are not pregnant yet but a friend of mine suggested to start stocking up on diapers now that were TTC. I think I should wait till I am actually pregnant. Also when do you buy the crib and stroller?
Because I am 22 and because my husband is 23 and is convinced that he has super sperm, he says that it will be easy to get me pregnant.
Yes I strongly believe that it is stupid to by things before your pregnant, but I just wanted to know what you thought.
I didnt buy diapers until I was closer to my due date. I bought a crib, bedding set, stroller and car seat right after my pregnancy was confirmed at the doctors. I was so excited I couldnt wait!!

You should wait until you are definitely pregnant first, because it may take a while to get pregnant and staring at all the beautiful things you bought will be hard on you. I bought everything when I was about 8 months pregnant.

I waited until I was 12 weeks pregnant to buy anything. God forbid something happens and you either have difficulty conceiving or possibly have a miscarriage. You will have all of these reminders around the house of something you wanted so badly. I would wait until you are pregnant and you get most of your big items at your shower. Good luck hun

Buying baby things before you’re pregnant is unbelievably stupid.

I bought his bedroom set at like 4 months pregnant. Everything else I bought at 8 months after my baby shower so that way I can see what I got, no diapers by the way! We had money saved up and throughout the pregnancy people were sending me gift cards. But once you are pregnant you should stock up! Good luck!

Personal choice - personally I’d wait until I was pregnant for fear of tempting fate, and knowing that if I was having troubles I’d get very upset seeing all the stuff - but that’s just me. 40 weeks is a long time to prepare though! Also, with things like nappies, I’d personally advise you to put the money you WOULD spend on them into a seperate account or even a piggy bank earmarked ‘nappy money’ lol, as the problem with stocking up on nappies in advance is that different babies grow at different rates, for example a couple of ’stages’ my son was only in for a week or two, others he’s been in for months, so even when pregnant it’s difficult to judge how many nappies of each stage you’ll need - perhaps when the time comes buy one large pack of each size and leave it at that.
As for other equipment, once again personal choice! I found out I was pregnant at 19 weeks so I bought everything fairly soon as obviously I only had half the time to prepare as most people, but I tended to buy things when I saw good deals on things. I do regret rushing into buying a pushchair, I think I did this about a week later and I hadn’t really done my research, it was a Graco so decent enough but personally not for me, I ended up selling it not too long afterwards and now my son is 10 months and I’ve just bought our 4th pushchair - I’m a bit of a strollerholic anyway!! Also I bought a moses basket quite soon and that was another regret, I liked it but I hadn’t researched into prices - I paid £90 for it (about $180 I think?) thinking that was a normal price, only to find out later that you can get just as nice ones from less well known brands for about £30!
But anyway, I definitely don’t think there’s any right or wrong time to start buying stuff - as I said I’d leave it to when I’m pregnant but I’m supersticious, and I guess it would make financial sense to buy as early as possible so if that’s something you want to do then go ahead! My only advice is, with all the equipment, just do a few weeks of research and reading up on what people use and what’s the best and good value for money etc, instead of making the mistakes I made!
Good luck TTC!

If you buy cloth diapers, you won’t need to worry about stockpiling any particular size… I love BumGenius one size diapers, they’re cute and we never have to run to the store at midnight.
Either way, wait till you’re pregnant and well into the second trimester to start buying stuff.

i agree with stocking up on diapers, but not until your pregnant.. through my pregnancy we bought a few boxes every other month… and now we’ll likely be set through until he’s about 8 or 9 months old. and if you don’t end up with the right sizes you can always exchange them later on.. and as for the other things i waited until after my baby shower to pick up the things i didn’t end up getting.

You should wait untill you’re a few months pregnant at least because you dont know how long it will take for you to get pregnant or if you would have a misscarriage and some things expire.
