1. Its only been a few weeks since I purchase the First Year True Fit. I have an 8 month old son that weighs 19
pounds, which doesn't bode well for our infant car seat. In fact, it's only for babies weighing up to 20 pounds.
Let's just say it was time to get something new. I absolutely love this car seat, even though my husband had a hard
time installing it. It probably took him about 30 minutes when it was all said and done. When he was finished it
didn't really seem to bother him, especially since it's for the safety of our son. Plus he said it took him a
little while to figure it out, so the next one will be much easier. The best part is it doesn't move a
millimeter!
One of my favorite parts is being able to take the headrest off until he's tall enough to use it. Since our son
is only 8 months he's still facing the rear of the car, but he's still easy to see. It's not like we have the
biggest car either (KIA SOUL), so the passenger seat had to be all the way up for the infant seat to fit. This one
gives me a little more breathing room. In fact, two people can fit in the back while we're up front. Yes, even with
the First Years True Fit Convertible Car Seat in there. I seriously think I would have been extremely disappointed
if we purchased the Britax. It's too bulky for us, and it's very expensive in comparison. When we made our decision
to buy I borrowed a consumer baby book report and found that the True Fit had an "A" for safety, price, and various
other areas. Plus, my son loves it. The first time he was in there it took all of 5 minutes for him to fall
asleep.
2. We have a daughter and decided to switch from the Graco infant carrier, which has been a pleasant experience.
The seat itself is extremely safe and secure in the old VW. The installation was simple, even though I needed a
pool noodle to get the right angle. This car seat has the best rear and front ratings you could ask for, and I'm
confident my daughter is always safe. The removable head rest allows it to fit in smaller vehicles easier, and the
cover can be removed to wash. The padding is thick and I'm pretty sure I would feel comfortable sitting in it from
point A to point B (if I was a baby of course). You can also remove the pillow if need be or add extra padding for
the tiny youngsters. While it's all great, I still have a problem with the crotch strap. There are only 2 levels
and the highest version seems a bit tight considering it's a convertible. However, the price and safety ratings
make it a wonderful choice in my eyes.
3. Our third baby came along when we decided to purchase the First Year True Fit for the first time. Our
daughter is 10-months old and seems to think the seat is extremely comfortable. It does have tons of padding for
that extra cushion. Unfortunately we needed to roll up a towel to make it recline. This wasn't a big deal and only
took a second, so we figured it was a "user" problem (us). When you have the seat in rear-facing the strap
adjustment is hard to reach and the overall installation is pretty similar to all the others we've owned over the
years. If there is anything I don't like it has to be the head cushion. This thing always seems to get in the way
when she's facing the rear. Regardless of these minor flaws I would definitely recommend it. After all, it's
reasonably priced, feels comfortable, and meets all the safety regulations out there.
