For my car, the Graco Safe seat must be installed in the middle, instead of behind the passenger
seat. I own a Subaru Impreza wagon and even with the car seat in the middle, you still must move both front seats a
little farther forward than I would prefer. However, there are some definite advantages to the seats as
well.
*The base of the seat is really simple to install since it is equipped with a latch system.
Personally, we decided to purchase two bases, but with the ease of removing it this is not necessary. Of course, if
you must use the car seat in different cars frequently you may want to go ahead and invest in the second base! If
you are shuffling once a week or less, the second base is definitely optional.
*These car seats come with a sunshade, which is quite large. Your baby will be blocked from light
rain or snow, wind, sun and will have a little shade to comfortably fall asleep in if you are out and about
town.
*Some Safe seats come with a boot that attaches at the bottom and is supposed to keep the baby
warm, it is pathetic in this role however, it does help keep your baby blankets in place. They will not fall out
easily even when the baby kicks and squirms.
*Adjustable straps can be a pain, but thankfully, there are several slots and it is easy to
lengthen them once your baby grows or thicker jackets are required.
*One very annoying aspect of this car seat is the carrying handle, like so many other car seats on
the market you will have to use two hands to fold it up or down. Both my husband and I feel this is a real problem
with many baby products, who has two hands free with a baby in tow? Nevertheless, most car seats have this same
issue.
*Nice thick padding, the baby appears to be quite comfortable.
*If you ever lose the instruction manual all you have to do is visit the manufacturer's website for
a free replacement.
*As far as shopping carts or restaurant high chairs I cannot comment on how well the Graco Safe
seat sits. We generally use an Ergo in the supermarket and a stroller for all restaurant visits.
By purchasing the Safe seat, I managed to completely avoid the rear-facing convertible. I went
straight to the Briatax Frontier, a car seat that converts from a forward facing car seat to a booster seat. There
is a bit of extra weight to this car seat, especially when compared to one like the Snugride, however for me this
was not an obstacle as I did not carry the seat that far. I would generally use the Graco stroller frame or simply
carried the baby. If you are considering a new car seat this is a much better buy than those that only go up to 23
pounds. A lot of moms have told me they wish they had purchased the Graco Safe seat as opposed to the Snugride.
These ladies are now faced with purchasing a new convertible seat as well as the stroller. I simply love this car
seat stroller action! I can stroll in the park facing my child and in the cooler months, he is protected from the
elements. You can even get a little exercise with Stroller strides!
I would never consider myself a car seat expert; in fact, I have not needed this particular device
in many years. However, my daughter is expecting so it was time to start checking them out. Graco Safe seats seem
to be a much better choice than most and they come at a reasonable price. Research proved that this seat has many
favorable reviews and after checking them out more, my daughter stated that she really wanted this car seat. She
said it appeared to be of excellent quality.
