Reviews of the Britax Roundabout 55 Convertible Car Seat

1. I'm thrilled to see the Roundabout 55 replacing the older Roundabout 50 model; on the new version of the
Roundabout, the sides are larger, especially near the top, which makes me feel that it keeps baby's head safer. The
seat has a soft cover and the Velcro which holds back the straps is perfect, though I wish there was also Velcro
holding the strap in the middle, since I find that I often have to pull the strap out from under my baby after I've
gotten him into the seat.
One thing I really like about the Roundabout 55 is the Versa Tether, since it really adds to the safety of the
seat. One drawback about it though is that when you have the seat placed facing the rear, it can be hard to get the
baby over the straps and into the seat. It's not that big of an issue, especially given how much it improves safety
and how easy the connectors are to use. I can't recommend this seat enough.
2. I'm a huge fan of the Roundabout 55. I did a lot of research before choosing a new car seat and I was
convinced that this seat offered the best balance of price and safety features; it might cost a little more than
some competing models, but I think it's well worth it for how much safer it makes my child in the event of an
accident. It was also incredibly easy to install in my 2008 Honda Civic thanks to the Britax latch system. My son
is just ten months old, so I'm still using the seat in a rear-facing configuration with the upper latch tether for
extra stability. This means that it can be a little bit tough to get my son into the seat (we have to go over or
under the straps), but the extra effort is well worth it for the peace of mind it provides. I'm happy with this
seat and think it'll work well for us until our son has outgrown the need for a car seat.
3. I had the Britax Marathon before, but it tended to push against the front seats when it was rear facing, so I
decided on the Roundabout 55 for our BMW 325. Now we have it mounted rear facing in the center seat and it hasn't
been a problem since. Thanks to the Britax Latch system it's easy to install, but it did take a little adjustment
to get it set up at the proper reclining angle. The seat offers three different reclining positions and after doing
a bit of adjustment with rolled up towels, I've been very satisfied with how it's worked out.
4. We got the Britax Roundabout 55 as an upgrade from our Roundabout 50, which we really liked. After our
Roundabout 50 was stolen, the newer Roundabout 55 model was an obvious choice. Since our child is on the small side
for her age, we felt that this was perfect for her.
My favorite things about the Roundabount 55 are the steel bars and improved side impact protection integrated
into this model as well as its higher weight capacity relative to the Roundabout 50. The only real downside I can
complain about here is that it is a bit heavier than the 50; since we take the seat in and out of the car a lot,
this is a hassle, but only a minor one. My child loves the seat and seems to find it very comfortable - and best of
all, when she falls asleep, she never ends up in that awkward position with her head hanging forward like you see
with a lot of other car seats.
