The first thing I suggest to parents is to find a store that will allow you to actually place your child in the
seat before purchasing. Sit your baby in the seat, buckle them in even and make sure it fits them well. My daughter
is tall and when I went shopping for a seat, I discovered she had outgrown the particular model I was thinking
about purchasing. The Britax Regent had some growing room, so this is the unit I purchased. Here are some pros and
cons of this particular car seat.
Pros:
* Installation- installing or changing vehicles is a breeze and getting the seat level is not
as much of a problem as I have had in the past with other models.
* Adjustment- I love the easy strap adjustment, one click and you are done! When you are doing
temporary adjustments for winter coats this is particularly nice.
* Versatility- Front or rear facing potential
* Safety- Five point harness is great for safety.
* Material- nice and comfortable plus it was simple to clean
* Ratings- good overall safety rating
* Finally- I feel that this seat keeps my daughter safe!
Cons:
* Price- this model is expensive
* Size- this unit may not fit well in all vehicles, you may want to check the specs in relation
to your car.
* Padding- a little more would have been nice
* Recline- not easy to use in the front facing position
* Newborn- this car seat is not good for newborns or very tiny babies, it is considered safe for
children over one year old and at minimum 22 pounds
Bottom line? My daughter loves this seat and so do I! Britax car seat is very good; I would recommend it to
anyone.
We have been using the Britax Regent for around 8 months and we are very happy with the results. This model sits
lower on the seat, which means less hangover for her legs. This was a drawback to the Marathon when our daughter
started to grow. Now no matter how long the trip she is completely comfortable.
When I first seen the seat I figured installation was going to be difficult, but honestly it was not bad. I have
a habit of crawling into the seat myself when using the Latch attachment, I did it with the Marathon as well!
Thankfully, this unit is much larger and easier to sit in.
One complaint I do have about this seat is the availability of covers. Replacement covers are abundant for the
Marathon, but with the Regent not so much. A final thought, it looks like they may be phasing out the Regent and
pushing the Frontier, model.
This car seat is a beast, which means it is heavy! Do not plan to move it about from one car to the next if you
do not have to. That being said it does provide ample peace of mind, which is exactly what my wife and I were
seeking. We like to travel and the children needed to be safe. This car seat is also wider than most, which
could present a problem with a small vehicle, or if you needed to place, two seats close together. Our 98
Forerunner has enough space for two with very little in between them. Very soon, we plan to purchase one of these
for our younger child. The best price we have found was a bit over $200 plus shipping.
What can I say about this seat? It is fantastic! We have twins and they are quite tall for their age, but I
wanted them to have the benefits of the five-point harness. We purchased this seat as a replacement after an
impact, in which my son was kept perfectly safe. The only downside, besides a higher price tag is the size. We use
them in our mini-van, one per captain's seat.
