One of the most critical purchases a parent will ever make is the car seat. Since the well being and safety of your child should be top priority, cutting costs should not enter the equation! This was the frame of mind my husband and I took when looking for our first car seat. We searched and researched talking to parents, friends and even manufacturing companies until we were satisfied with a choice, the Companion.

One thing you will hear frequently about these car seats is a complaint about the weight, however we honestly wanted something heavy duty and sturdy for our child's car seat. This unit attaches simply to the base and is compatible with several different stroller models including the Zooper. I highly recommend this car seat; it is by far one of the best on the market today.

With our first child we purchased a Marathon car seat, we were duly impressed with this model for safety and she slept very soundly in the seat. The good news is we never had an occasion to really "test" the safety. For our youngest child we decided right away that a Britax was the brand we wanted. We were impressed and totally happy with our purchase.  It is true that these seats are heavy and we had a few issues with the handle sticking at first, but that seemed to work itself out with use. One thing I really loved was the adjustable head pad. All you had to do was pump it up or press the release. When we got ready to leave the hospital, this seat impressed me even more.

A nurse is supposed to come out and inspect your car seat and our nurse kept calling others over to check it out! She is supposed to make sure the unit was properly installed but she stated if we had gotten a car seat like that, it was sure to be in correctly. Of course, my husband had to jostle it to prove it was stable and the base did not move! At this point, our youngest baby is in the Marathon seat and my older daughter is using the Parkway booster. She loves her "racecar" seat and everyone who sees it is impressed with the headrest. This car seat is perfectly designed to teach her the proper way to wear her seat belt and protects her head if she drifts off to sleep. We wholeheartedly recommend the Britax to all our friends and family. If anyone comments on the price, we simply explain that nothing is too expensive when it comes to the safety of our children.

This is a top quality, well built and robust car seat. During the first few weeks, we had a small issue with the head support. When my son was a newborn the headrest was simply too big for him. In order to keep his head from tilting sideways we had to pad the sides. Of course, my little boy grew fast and this was not an issue for long!

The other downside to the seat we chose was the color. We went with the onyx unit, which was not a great choice in hindsight for a baby who gets hot easily. More than once, we would get him out of the car seat to find his back and head were damp with sweat. A different, lighter color is probably the best option particularly if your little one is warm natured.

These are the only issues we have had with this product, and we are very happy with the purchase.
